Chapter 72 An Unknown Factor (1)
She was known as Drusilla and she was the ancestor of the Sanguise House.
In all her time as the original caretaker of the Sanguise House–she had never once encountered someone like Lukas. By all means, he seemed to fulfill the criteria of what it meant to be a Vampire.
However, there was something innately so different about him that made it difficult for her to get an accurate reading on his aura.
Not that she would ever admit that out loud to him.
She was the prime of her people and to even reveal that there was something that she was unfamiliar about was a smack to her pride. She had lived long enough to be betrayed by her kin and for herself to be entrapped in the dagger.
She had lived long enough to have known enemies that made the world tremble, and was even passed down from one progeny to the next, that even as she tried to read him, and she was connected to him at this point–it was impossible.
The woman stood alone in her world of solitude.
"If there is anything that cannot be explained… it would only be the gods." she murmured to herself.
Her laughter echoed in the serene white world.
"What would the gods have interest in such a being like himself? I was far stronger in my youth than him and for them to pay attention is impossible. There is–"
Suddenly in the blank state of her world, Drusilla glanced around her surroundings with a frown. She was supposed to be alone and she was alone.
It was impossible for anyone to ever invite themselves in this domain without her permission. Only the strongest could ever consider doing that and it was not without ease.
"So who is this perpetrator?" Drusilla stretched out her hand, her delicate hands suddenly morphing into that of something that resembled a monster\'s.
Sharp claws, elongated nails that could pierce into the chest of her enemies, was visible as she suddenly struck forward.
However, to her amazement, it was no invisible foe, much less a hidden assassin or even a vengeful ghost that might have sought to use the dagger for itself.
Instead an array of visible blue light passed through her entire body.
Drusilla failed to turn into mist and vanish away in time, but she felt no excruciating pain or any harm done towards her body whatsoever. It was only a tingly feeling that she couldn\'t quite explain.
"What… what is the meaning of this?" Drusilla asked herself, perplexed.
This was something that she had never encountered before in all her life. Perhaps if she had lived longer as a free reigned Vampire, she would have figured it out as it resembled something manmade.
Lukas could have easily answered it for her.

"Ah, this is good stuff!" Lukas let out a satisfied sigh as he slurped up some blood from what could have essentially been a juice bag or a medical pouch.
"Don\'t drink up too fast, Lukas. You might hurt your stomach." Chaerin giggled and wiped away some droplets from the corner of his lips. She licked up her thumb and smiled before slurping her drink more slowly.
After traveling for what almost seemed like hours, all of their stomachs had growled and everyone agreed that it was time to eat, or in this case, drink.
The original supply was supposed to last for months, but with the additional guests, it might have to prove a future problem–but for now, there was an abundance.
Even Alexei, who might have been initially more hotheaded than Theodore had a positive look on his face as he slurped some blood. He wasn\'t outrightly praising it like Lukas, but there was a content look on his face.
It made Lukas recall that the only reason why Alexei initially bothered him before was because Lukas complained about Blood Water and it had struck a nerve.
Lukas had only been a Vampire for a month or so, and it was so good to drink pure blood. He couldn\'t imagine what it was like for someone to live on Blood Water for all their entire life.
Lukas could however imagine himself eating instant ramen in the past and he guessed that was a similar feeling. Imagine having to live on cheap and unhealthy food but then suddenly receiving rare and juicy steak all of a sudden.
That was something that he could sympathize with.
"Um, hey, Theodore…" Chaerin suddenly moved closer to Theodore and handed him a blood bag. "Maybe you can take a break and stop driving for a moment–everyone\'s already eaten except for you."
Theodore snatched the blood bag from her and pierced it open, he then began to sip. He didn\'t even look at Chaerin at all. "I\'m good. I can drive while drinking–we don\'t have much time to waste to stop and enjoy the blood like we\'re on some kind of picnic."
"You could at least say thank you." Lukas rolled his eyes. While he did play mediator for Theodore and Alexei, it didn\'t mean that he appreciated his girlfriend being treated like that when she had done something nice.
"Fine, thank you for the blood." Theodore sighed. While he was still a hundred percent focused on his goal and reaching their destination as fast as they could–he also realized that maybe he had been too hostile.
Chaerin smiled and nodded her head. "You\'re welcome."
Lukas couldn\'t help but stare at his girlfriend for a moment–which was a little silly, but he was just happy to see her happy. However, Chaerin seemed to have gotten a bit confused because she quickly sat beside him and hugged his arm.
"What is it?" Lukas asked.
"... Did I make you uncomfortable?" Chaerin asked.
"Huh?" Lukas blinked, rather confused. He didn\'t get it, until Stacy looked at him and just decided to mouth the words.
"Are you jealous?" she said.
Lukas scrunched up his face and was completely bewildered. He gave Chaerin a kiss on the head and pulled her closer. It was a strange reaction, but if he was perhaps a bit more insecure, he might have gotten upset.
Alexei glanced at his sister and nudged her. "Someone is."
"Shut up." Stacy hissed.
